Syrian General Secretary of Hellenic Association Anouar Bakri’s
complaint to VERGINA TV that “the tariff for getting a passport and
residence permit within a month is 3,500 euros”

Speaking on the program by Stergio Kalogirou, Anouar Bakri explained that there were serious delays by the Asylum Service in issuing special travel documents for Syrian refugees wanting to travel to another country. However, it complained of cases of corrupt officials in the service using “other” methods to speed up the whole process.

Also, the secretary of the Association of Syros Greece accused the Asylum Service of stressing that while he sent his complaints of bribery in writing “to do further research”, the result was that “they wrote us shoes in their old days”, as he typically said.

Mr Bakri also strongly condemned the UNHCR and the Commission for handling the refugee issue while arguing that the current government should change its policy on this problem by saying that it “must close but also seal the border”. .
